Canadian National's transcontinental mainline crosses through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. West of Jasper, Alberta in Jasper National Park is Yellowhead Pass which is the CN crossing of the Rockies. There is a great variety of freight traffic on this busy section which splits west of Mt. Robson (Canada's highest peak) to go southwest toward Vancouver, and due west to Prince George. When this was shot there were still cabooses on the trains to Prince George. The VIA passenger trains are also seen as we see the Sceena from Prince Rupert, and the Canadian on its journey across Canada in the Jasper Area. In addition to all this freight and passenger action we'll see a CN test train, and get a peek inside. This video is a wonderful blend of great scenery and mixture of train variety. It is the CN version of Kicking Horse Pass, without the Spiral Tunnels.

In this 4th and final program from Greg's 1992 Western Canada Series, the is some yard switching at Jasper, plus great trackside action in both sunny skies and unexpected snowfalls. The short segment of this now over 25 year old program, is a tour of the TEST Train showing both the outside looks and also a quick Behind the Scenes look inside the Examination rooms. Plus see VIA F40's in passenger service
