University Junction Minnesota Vol 1 DVDAlso available in Blu-Ray Disc..University Junction in Minneapolis, Minnesota is one of many hot spots in the Twin Cities area. University is located in north Minneapolis just south of BNSF's Northtown and 35th Avenue Yard and adjacent to Canadian Pacific's Shoreham Intermodal facility. The Great Northern and Northern Pacific once owned these tracks. Canadian Pacific's Shoreham intermodal facility and trackage westward from University are original Soo Line territory. Along with a variety of BNSF and CP trains, many transfer moves from the Union Pacific and Canadian National come through University daily. Many multiple train movements are common here. In this volume, we capture action at University in the winter months of January to March of 2009.

This is my first production purchased from C Vision. I have examples from many producers and C Vision stands out as probably one of the best I've ever bought. Their style of production may not suit all, however if you're looking for a good balance of rail content with minimal narration, then this is it. Trains and snow always look good on DVD, and this production is no exception - snow in every shot.
What I liked most about this is that the videographer was very aware of what was in the viewable frame. Many producers have not made the transition from standard screen to widescreen very well, with many shots not being very well framed - ie including too much stuff off to the side. Not so with C Vision - their frame composition is near on perfect.
My only gripe is that some of the multiple angle shots of long trains are too short, and the direct cut from one angle to another can be painful on the eyesight.
The onscreen titles are just right - easy to read and not too intrusive.
The question of whether kids would like it is irrelevant - I bought this for me, and I loved it. I'll definitely be back for more from C Vision. |
