Journey with Pentrex on an all-new tour of the finest railroading hotspots Southern California has to offer! In our first Southern California Rails show we took you to classic spots to witness some exciting action. Now we are pleased to bring you this second volume, over four years in the making, covering many new areas as well as revisiting a few select spots with all new footage.

Traveling from San Diego to Ventura, and from the Pacific Ocean to the high and low deserts, we"ll take you to dozens of interesting railroading sites, such as spots along the Needles, Mojave, and San Bernardino Subdivisions; in Soledad and Afton Canyons; on the Sunset Route and the Surfline; the San Jacinto Branch, MTA"s Blue Line, the Orange Empire Railway Museum, and many other locations. The wide variety of locomotive models we show range from the venerable GP30 and CF7 to the latest GE Evolution series and EMD SD70 ACe units (including two of UP"s famed Heritage units.) The railroads include Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Union Pacific, Amtrak, Metrolink, Ventura County Railway, San Diego Trolley, Coaster, CEMEX, and the Los Angeles Junction Railway. Plus, you"ll see visitors such as Norfolk Southern, Canadian National, CSX, KCS, Soo Line, and GCFX on the point! As an added bonus, we also show former ATSF #3751! The "San-Jac" Local, circus trains, a ribbon rail train, the Coast Starlight, the Southwest Chief, BNSF and UP passenger specials, the Sunset Limited, unit oil and auto trains, manifest trains, doublestacks, and plenty of surprises are guaranteed to keep you thoroughly entertained. There"s a lot to see and enjoy in Southern California Rails 2!

This was a wonderful production! I truly enjoyed this journey through Southern California, especially the footage of BNSF locals on the San Jacinto Branch and Cemex trains in the desert. The video quality was excellent, and this video has something for everyone; steam, diesel, mainline and local freights, tourist and commuter trains and Amtrak. Worth every penny, especially if you model or enjoy southern California railroading.

Additional remarks by Joe:
Narration: Just enough.
Narration CAN be turned off in special features.
Would kids enjoy this? Maybe.
Image quality: Excellent!
DVD Value: Excellent Value!
Recommend to others? Definitely.

This is another fine example of the talented camera of Mark Johnson. I wish every cameraman would shoot as good as him. Not too much panning and not too much zooming in or out either. He ALWAYS uses a tripod and keeps the sun at the right angle. As a southern California native, I find this to be one of the best productions Pentrex has ever come out with.
