Marias Pass BNSF Railways Hi Line SubIt’s mid October at Glacier National Park in Montana’s rugged Rocky Mountains. Fall splendor has faded from the quaking aspens. Stands of larch have begun their annual transformation from green to yellow before their needles fall. The wind-swept open country to the east has taken on shades of brown while evidence of recent snows highlights the mountain peaks. Somewhere below all of this the Middle Fork of the Flathead River meanders through this wild and scenic country on its way west. The icy water knows an easy way through this forbidding mountain range and so does a railroad, for this place is Marias Pass. Today’s BNSF Railway continues to use this historic route through the Rockies forged over 100 years ago by the “Empire Builder” James J. Hill. Beginning at Whitefish, BNSF’s Hi Line Sub heads east through tunnels, trestles, wooden snow sheds and over the Continental Divide where mountain forests meet the high plains. Witness heavy trains and big power rolling through Montana’s Big Sky Country. Enjoy bonus scenes of SP Daylight steam locomotive #4449 in Montana and Idaho. |

This DVD is nothing short of fantastic! It has beautiful mountain scenery and superb railroad action. The image is clear, and the color is just about perfect. The shots are composed and framed in a very pleasing way. Even the audio quality is excellent, and you can really hear all the sounds associated with the passing trains.
I simply do not know how this could have been done any better. This was my first 7idea Productions DVD, so I don't know if this quality is typical for them or not, but if it is, those guys are GOOD!
I believe this is my third Marias Pass DVD, and it is BY FAR the best, even better than my Pentrex Marias Pass DVD! If you know Pentrex quality, then you will know that I just said a LOT.

7idea production have done it again!! Love how they mix the different seasons as well as the scenic highlights mixed with excellent railroad action from a ribbon rail train viewed from above as it negotiates a curve and you can see how flexible the rail is as it goes thru the curve! from Whitefish depot to locations like Essex Mt where you see helpers cut off the train while in motion!!This is a must have all Railfans should have!!!!ANYTHING 7IDEA HAS PUT OUT IS OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
