In volume 1 from 2006, this 50 minute video begins with a look at the Lionel layout which was known as Jim Bengerts railroad express. Jim has a real working wig wag signal, and a legit crossing signal. The entire layout was built by Jim himself along with his son Jake. One of the accessories on the layout includes an MTH 1950s McDonalds. One of the steam locomotives on the layout is a model of Union Pacific big boy 4006. The real 4006 is on display at kirkwood Missouri in the National museum of transportation near the St. Louis Area. Jim also as a postwar Santa Fe F unit in warbonet colors. He also has a turntable and a rare Big L Diner accessory. Not to mention the General set. One of the Lionel building kits on Jims layout is the Rico station built between 1971-1984 during the MPC era. Another Lionel accessory on Jims layouts is the 1988 refreshment booth. Modern TMCC diesels are shown hauling freight trains. Jim has also scratched built a coaling area, and a water tower. Near that are 2 Pennsylvania railroad engines: a 2-6-2 steamer, and one of the icons of Lionel: the 6-8-6 turbine. Meanwhile, Union Pacific 8006 loops around the roundhouse. The turntable area also has a Jordan spreader and a rotary snowplow. Besides the big boy, Jim also has a B&O 2-8-8-4. He also scratched built a B&O caboose, and there is also a blue and gray 4-6-2 on a regular passenger train. The B&O 2-8-8-4 goes over the L&N diesel powered freight. Also on Jims layout is the New York Central Mohawk. One of the Lionel accessories on Jims layout is the 282 gantry crane. More details on the wig wag crossing signals are included.

Next the OGR team heads to the railroad empire which is Courtesy of Joe & Doreen Giannetti. The couple owned and operated one of the most gigantic o gauge layouts ever built. On this layout, they operate 73 trains at once. There are some Lionel accessories which includes the 313 bascule bridge. During the construction, Joe did the tables, the track and the wires. While Doreen did the scenery, the buildings, and having troubles making the waterfall. This is one of the O gauge layouts to have city skyscrapers. Joe used over 3000 miniature lights to create this realistic thing. An instrumental symphony is used. Some trains on Joes layout are in conventional transformer mode, while others are equipped with Lionels TMCC. Joe used 9 trains on the freight loop, and 15 trains on the passenger loop. An interview with David Shaw of the mountain lakes New Jersey hobby store: the train station is included. There is also a circus on the layout, which includes some fun time music. More music is shown during a montage of the bigs of the layout. On some of Lionels rotary beacon light tower, note that both of the lens have Mickey Mouse shadows.

The last layout in the main 50 minute feature is the Christmas themed 2 rail O gauge layout in Cincinnati which was also shown in the 1996 pentrex video: Christmas trains. Its built by a company called Cinergy since 1936. A look at the sign from November 24 to new years eve is included. A comparison of the Christmas layout between 1945 and the 90s are shown. Many residents and visitors in and around Cincinnati of all ages love seeing the Toy Trains operating at Christmas time. On this layout, a model of the streamlined class P-5 4-6-2 is shown pulling the Cincinnatian. This segment also has a musical background. This locomotive was inspired by Caitlin who appeared in the Andrew Brenner style episodes of Thomas The Tank Engine. Did you know that the Christmas layout weighs in at 14,000 pounds, not to mention fitting in a real modern era boxcar? There are 9 trains running at one time. There are also 3 trains on a single loop. No giant layout is complete without a roundhouse and a turntable. Some scratched built buildings are shown which includes a model of the point of rocks depot. There is also a circus train, and a fine model of a big busy station with a glass ceiling. Every year only 394,000 visitors and residents look at the layout.

Volume 1 had 3 bonus segments. Bonus number 1 is how a steam engine works with 765 as the demonstration engine which was also used on the Steamed DVD from 2017. Bonus number 2 is Phil Klopps Lionel layout that was reminiscent of horseshoe curve in Altoona, which was shown in one of the very first TMBV videos: Great Toy Train layouts of America, as well as the original I love Toy Trains parts 1 2 & 3. Which is at a total of 13 minutes. And bonus number 3 is the layout of Doctor Bill Colvin. Which ran for a total of only 9 minutes, and was taken from great train layouts you can visit volume 1 from 1998. The docs wife died in 1984. You wont believe the size of this o gauge layout. There are 13 trains running with a street car, and 2 more trains on the upper tracks. There is also a musical montage of the layout l.

Overall, the engineer of 765 Rich Melvin did an outstanding job narrating this program.
