In the dramatic history of America's railroads, one factor has never changed...and that is change itself. Case in point, the merger of the Burlington Northern and the Santa Fe railways.
The transitional period of the new Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway is reflected in the stunning mixture of motive power, paint schemes, and road names. A new BNSF design features the old Great Northern orange and green. Classic Santa Fe red and silver "War Bonnets" lend even more nostalgia to the scene.
In this series of programs, we will search for examples of this colorful lineup of post merger BNSF power. We will cross the canyons, the backcountry and deserts along the Santa Fe's historic and scenic Southwestern mainline. Come along as we take a look at the BNSF in a Time of Change.
