Review of Vignettes of the Reading Lines Volume 1 Steam & Diesel 1948-1963 DVD

The Reading Company was the favorite railroad of Allentown, PA native Charles W Houser, Sr, who filmed The Companys 4-8-4, 2-8-0, 4-6-2, 2-10-2 and 2-8-8-0s during the late 1940s and 1950s at locations inlcuding tamaqua, Lansdale, East Penn Jct, and gordon. Diesel coverage of FTs, F7s, Trainmasters, AS-16s, FAs, RS3s, RDCs, and GP30s continues through the 50s and 60s at Bethlehem, Allentown, Rutherford, and Perkasie. included also are MU cars on the North Penn Branch, rare footage of Mack Trucks ill-fated New Haven railbus testing on the Reading, Camelbacks on the Ironton Railroad, a brief look at subsidiary Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines, and the last run of The Berksie doodlebug on April 9, 1949. Color and black and white, 60 minutes, sound with maps and narration, DVD-R format.
