Located in Boonville, Indiana, two coal hauling railroads share the same trackage; both the Yankeetown Dock Railroad and Peabody's Squaw Creek. In part one of Boonville Delights, we take a look at the busier Yankeetown Dock Railroad. Filmed in late 1987 and early 1988, the railroad rostered six locomotives: three Fairbanks-Morse H-12-44'S used to dump the coal and three EMD SD38-2's to handle the road jobs and bring loads up to the dumper.
In this program , we take a look at H-12-44's shoving cars through the dumper and then follow a couple of road jobs with the SD 38-2's to the AMAX Ayreshire Mine North of Boonville. We then conclude the program with a ride in the cab of SD38-2 #21 from the engine house down to the holding yard to pick up 30 loads for the dumper.
Come along with NostalgiaRail as we take a close look at the Yankeetown Dock Railroad in Boonville Delights Part 1!
