Review of New York and Long Branch Railroad DVD

In the mid-1950's, railfans from all over the world visited the New York & Long Branch Railroad to observe the last stand of the lengendary Pennsylvania Railroad Class K4 Pacific-type steam locomotives. Thirty years later, they returned from the swan song of NJ Transit's classic E8 diesels and ex-Pennsy GG1 electrics.

This program presents the fascinating story of the Long Branch. Following a brief history of the railroad, you'll tour the line and view K4s in action at many interesting locations. The famous engine change from steam to GG-1 electrics at South Amboy is fully illustrated. You'll also visit the nearby steam-powered Raritan River Railroad and observe the colorful first-generation PRR and CNJ diesels which replaced steam. The program concludes with a brief look at the Long Branch as the North Jersey Coast Line of NJ Transit.

From K4s to F40s, this is the definitive history of the Long Branch!
