Review of Memories of the Long Island Railroad DVD

MEMORIES OF THE LONG ISLAND RAILROAD is a delightful collection of historic archive film depicting the operations of this famous line from the late 1940's through the early 1960's. Beginning with a tour of the Jamaica area including Morris Park engine terminal and the "MU Graveyard" at Holban Yard, you'll visit a number of scenic locations such as the Rockaway Branch, Floral Park, Merrilon Avenue, Mineola, and the Port Jefferson Branch. The LIRR rostered an interesting and eclectic variety of motive power during the transition period from steam to diesel, and this program offers exciting action scenes of the famous G5-Class 4-6-0's, along with 0-8-0 and 2-8-0 steam locomotives. Diesels include Fairbanks-Morse C-Liners and Baby Trainmasters, and Alco and Baldwin switchers. 45 MINUTES * COLOR AND B/W ARCHIVE FILM * MAPS * GRAPHICS * SYNCHRONIZED SOUND PRODUCED BY MARC S.
