Review of Missouri Kansas Texas - Courting Miss Katy DVD

 4.5 of 5 (4)
The MKT was chartered in 1868, as the southern division of the Union Pacific, to connect Kansas with Texas and the Gulf of Mexico. Eventually, it reached from Kansas to Denison, TX, its headquarters, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Galveston and San Antonio. Through trackage rights agreements, it reached St. Ouis and Omaha, NE. In 1980, it acquired trackage rights of bankrupt Rock Island in Oklahoma, which they operated as the Oklahoma-Kansas-Texas. Jim Terrell filmed many of the Katy's lines in TX, OK and KS.Included are visits to the Denison car shops, their former tie plant and the UP excursion engine 8444 in OK. After the road was merged by UP into the MOPAC, there was mixing of power. Eventually, both were absorbed into the UP. Running time is 2 hours, full color, sound in camera, narration and maps.
