Review of Trackside on the Durango & Silverton DVD

Most of our videos are scenes of the steam trains in action from off the train. This is one of those videos that allows you to see the train as it passes and in some of the scenery the average person would see riding the train from that perspective. As such this is a nice companion video to "Steam to Silverton" since we are not on the train but watching it from the outside.

There are two trains per day from Durango, and we enjoy scenes leaving Durango, and from a mountain perch overlooking Durango and the river with a great perspective. The train travels for several miles on level track before climbing Hermosa Hill between Hermosa Tank and Rockwood. We see several scenes in this region including Hermosa, Highway 250, plus others. In addition we have a neat scene at Beaver Creek Canyon, sometimes called the "Little High Line"(See cover shot). We also drove to Silverton one day, and got both trains in the area, including one along the river, and another passing the old depot. Ther
