Early Diesels 2 continues the tradition started with "Early Diesels" in 1990. Volume 2 is loaded with variety and concentrates on western diesels operating between 1989 and 1989. First we visit California and the Trona Railroad with rare Balwin AS616's in the California Desert region. These units no longer operate on this line. Next we see switching operations in Council Bluffs, Iowa with older BN and Chicago Central units (GP10, etc). The Chicago Central unit puts on a nice show. Then there is a cameo appearance of ex CN SW1200 on the Alberta Prairie Railroad in Canada, followed by a nice segment on the Apache Railway in Arizona. This shortline runs from Snowflake to the BNSF connection at Holbrook and usually runs trios of Alco 420's, which we see in operation during our visit in 1991.
