Review of Little Mikes in the Big Country Cumbres & Toltec DVD

The Cumbres & Toltec is one of the scenic wonders of tourist railroading in North America. Trains run over the 64 mile portion of the old Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge system between Chama, New Mexico, and Antonito, Colorado.

We visited the railroad in the summer of 2012, focusing on the southern portion of the line as trains run over the four percent grades of Cumbres Pass.

Over the course of three days, three different former Rio Grande Mikados were seen in operation.

In addition to the main program of trackside scenes, there is a bonus section featuring a ride on the railroad from Cumbres to Antonito.

TVD NOTE: Their site says 60 minutes plus 35 minute bonus. The DVD case says 73 minutes plus 33 minute bonus. It is unknown whether bonus means more of this material or previews.
