The history of the German railway is not only the history of a means of transportation that radically changed and accelerated the traffic system in the 19th century like nothing, before. It is also the history of a technical masterpiece that meant a point of departure towards industrialization and prosperity heretofore unknown.

On December 7, 1835, the steam age began in Germany when the legendary "Adler" ("Eagle") locomotive successfully completed the trip from Nuremberg to Fuerth.

Steam Locomotives 1 presents the years 1835 until the end of World War I with lots of historical documents and pictures. Also, in a short movie, the founders of the first German railway remember "Adler's" first voyage – while being aboard the very train that made history along the historical route from Nuremberg to Fuerth!
