Steam Double-Header"Steam Double-Header" brings you 86 minutes of spectacular steam action. Every sequence was shot on crystal clear 16mm colour film by well-known rail photographer Newton Rossiter. The railroads featured, include CN, CP, GTW, DM&IR, NKP and the D&NE.
In additon, rather than dubbing in "phony sound" to this superb silent footage, we've added a fascinating narration by 5 steam era railroaders as well as Mr. Rossiter himself. All in all, a must for any steam fan!

| Steam Double Header: the sub title says it all - Steam Memories of Ontario, and Newt Rossiter - A Last Look at Steam.
This is another 2 in 1 video by Rail Innovations. Basically, a group of railroads are covered in the closing hours of Steam in Ontario and the American mid-west, which includes the CNR, CPR, GT, Nickel Plate, etc... There is some increditable footage in this video of hard working trains as they were starting the competition against the engines that would send so many to the torch yard. There is no real path of order to this video, but it's all fantastic action.
Newt Rossiter, the great railroad photographer, does an excellent job keeping the memories of Steam alive. What sets this video apart from most other history videos is the narration. 5 railroad engineers/conductors are the narrators. These great fellows actually tell their stories of events of these very trains when they were operating them themselves. It's wonderful to listen to them as they can tell 'some good ones'. At 86 minutes long, it's 120 minutes to short. You don't have to be a Steam fan, or even know where Ontario Canada is, you will find this video most entertaining. |
