Altamont Pass and Niles Canyon are also featured as the engine travels through these areas for the first time in its career.

The Southern Pacific Daylight locomotive number 4449 made several excursion trips during the Convention, and each trip is thoroughly documented. Then Pentrex crews follow the Daylight as it works upgrade through the mountains to Klamath Falls, Oregon, on its northbound return.

The newly-restored Southern Pacific locomotive number 2472 is impressive as it travels round trip from San Jose up the Peninsula to San Francisco. The concluding excursion of the convention features engine number 2472 on the point in an exciting doubleheader with SP 4449 for a round trip from San Jose to Watsonville.

i haven't bought any pentrex videos in a long while so i finally did after so long with three videos on sale and this was one of them san jose steam celebration is a 2 hour steam extravaganza video covering the 1992 nrhs convention is san jose California with three steam locomotives union pacific challenger 3985 and two engines of the southern pacific the legendary northern daylight 4449 and pacific 2472 the three engines are documented on each of their trips with the 3985 travailing on the former western pacific mainline in the feather river canyon and latter in Altamont Pass and the Niles Canyon (both of the latter two were the first time the 3985 traveled in her excursion career) the 2472 is seen on a trip from San Jose up the Peninsula than latter on to San Francisco the 4449 is seen on many trips which is seen through the convention than the exciting part was the doubleheader with the 2472 and the 4449 from San Jose to Watsonville than the video finishes with the 3985 heading back to the yard in portola and chasing the 4449 on her way back home to chasing as far as Klamath Falls Oregon i particularly liked the footage on the 3985 which she has hold the title for being the largest operating steam locomotive in the world now she'll be demoted the second largest after the up steam crew is fished with the restoration on big boy 4014 (than after the 4014 the crew will than work on the 3985 and hopefully she should return some time in the new decade the 2020's) this is an excellent video of seeing steam action that you will enjoy
