Charles Smiley makes some of the better rail videos. The documentary style makes for a very informative and enjoyable DVD. There are some vision of trial paint, commute action and freights in various places along the system. The quality of the video is good for the equipment of the time period covered. I enjoyed the video and anyone that enjoys SP should add this to there collection.

Additional remarks by Marshall:
Narration: Just enough.
Would kids enjoy this? Yes.
Image quality: Good.

Sit back and watch how the robber barons tackled seemingly insurrmountable obstacles. Whatever you may think of the big four, you will have a sense of respect for what they accomplished after watching this video. As with other Smiley videos, there is effort to have the viewer appreciate the history of the events presented. Wonderful footage of many locomotives and a grittiness that perhaps defined the SP itself. I've watched this one a number of times and still enjoy it anew on special occasions.
