The Florida East Coast in action on the north end of the system, between the yard at Jacksonville and Melbourne. Manifests, locals, intermodals and rock trains ply the well ballasted main line of the FEC. The new SD70M-2ís are much in evidence, paired with ex Union Pacific SD40-2's and GP40-2's still in the blue paint scheme. One of the best looking regional railroads around!

The Florida East Coast runs the east coast of Florida from Jacksonville south to Miami. This video covers the north end from Jacksonville to Melbourne. And Oh Yeah, it is in 16X9 Widescreen!

The program starts at Jacksonville's Bowdon Yard showing intermodal trains departing and arriving at the yard. The paint scheme on the FEC's new SD70M-2s is unique, instead of the usual black, gray or silver, the trucks and fuel tank are White. And so are the pilots. All three current and recent paint schemes are seen – the sold dark blue which is used mostly on 4-axle engines; the Union Pacific yellow and gray that has been relettered for the FEC (and very well done, there are no visible “patch” jobs); and the new sharp looking dark blue and yellow on the new SD70M-2s. Traffic is mostly intermodal and rock, with a few manifest trains and locals.

Narration is minimal and adequate. The photography is sharp and crystal clear, and without that annoying glare from the cab windows. Milepost and train symbol markers are included for most trains.

An interesting railroad with a nice variety of power from some older units to the modern SD70M-2's. Great camera shots with some showing reflections at bridge scenes. Regional railroads have a lot to offer and this video is no exception. With a class 1 running through the state of Florida, it is interesting to see intermodals in action on the FEC. A fine production for us to enjoy.
