Railroading Torontos North End on DVD by Rail Innovations

Railroaders refer to the CN and CPR mainlines running north of Toronto and through the spectacular Muskoka region of Ontario, as "the north end". This is an area of not only countless lakes, rock and dense forest, but also heavy duty rail activity.

"Railroading Toronto's North End" provides an in-depth look at the drama of railroading north of Canada's largest city. With three mainlines handling drags, double-stacks, VIA and ONR passenger trains and a wide selection of motive power, the action never stops.

You'll be trackside as well as in the cab as "Muskoka Railroading" shows CN, CP, VIA and ONR during a Muskoka summer and winter. "The Tail-End" takes us back in time, as we ride 450 and 451 between Toronto and North Bay, on one of the last CN trains to still have a regular caboose.

North from Toronto Ontario are 2 main lines, which eventually becomes 3 lines, and 4 railroads: CNR, CPR, VIA Rail and Ontario Northland. This video takes us on a tour which shows the summer and winter action of the lines and railroads of the region. See an old preserved coal tower and the swing bridge over the Trent Waterway near Washago. A VIA Rail 1 - The Canadian stop in Parry Sound Ontario. There are many waterways and bridges along the way on all the lines. This region is known as the Muskoka Retreat area. It is a vocationers wonderland of lakes, rivers and small towns. The scenery is awsome. Take a short head end cab ride in a VIA F40 as it heads for Vancouver. See trees fly when hit by this train shortly after a major storm. Then it's on to a look at the final days of a caboose. We all love the head end power, but many of us remember the days of the caboose. It was something special as we were in the fields back home harvesting the crops and the caboose finally passed by us. There was always that friendly wave as we watched the train disappear. In this segment, you ride along with the conductor from Toronto to North Bay Ontario and return on a cold winter day. Listen to the conversations as the conductor and videographer tell the story of the trip. It's an interestingvideo that tells a story of days gone by. You'll really enjoy Toronto's North End by Rail Innovations.
