Visit scenic Colorado and New Mexico and the lines of the former Denver & Rio Grande Western for three different narrow gauge adventures!
First, you're in Durango, Colorado where the famous Durango & Silverton has been back-dated to the 1930's, with a mixed train and passenger train complete with the old green passenger cars. It's the winter season, and you just might want to bundle up in front of your screen as you enjoy many runbys in the rugged Animas River Canyon
Next, you're in Chama, New Mexico, where the Cumbres & Toltec is training new engineers and firemen using a freight train. You'll enjoy the action as the train climbs the steep 4 percent grade to Cumbres Pass, another glimpse into the old times.
Last but not least, take a peek into the very early days of railroading as Eureka & Palisade #4, the “Eureka” visits the Durango & Silverton. Built in 1875, this fully operational 4-4-0 takes you back to a time where the locomotive was as fancy as it could be. You're on-board and trackside as the Eureka makes the trip from Durango all the way to Silverton.
If you like great steam locomotive action, the you'll want to take a Narrow Gauge Adventure!

RP releases are always a little different and this one is no exception. The angles used in many shots are different and perhaps unique from that of others, it is for this reason I rate this as a "must have". Personally, I would have liked a little more narration, but the producer let the locomotives and goose do most of the talking and that certainly isn't bad. The narrator was informative, pleasant and not overpowering, a plus in my book. You may have other narrow gauge dvd's, but this one with its' clear sound and rock steady camera work, sets it apart. Highly Recommended.

After Lane Venardos Left The RP Crew, This Was The First DVD that Producer Les Jarrett Himself was Back to His Own Narration. After all, You gotta love the mountains and the unique locomotives in action.
Additional remarks by Steamboy: Narration:Could have used more. Narration CAN be turned off in special features. Would kids enjoy this?I doubt it. Image quality:Excellent! DVD Value::Fair. Recommend to others?A "Must Have"!
I was disappointed in the video quality. Not a very sharp image and many shots were taken with the trains in shadows without the sun on the train so you did not see allot of detail.
Additional remarks by Dave: Narration:Just enough. Would kids enjoy this?Maybe. Image quality:A little rough around the edges. DVD Value::Fair. Recommend to others? Not unless they REALLY were interested in the subject matter.
