Los Angeles opened its new Gold Line light rail system on July 26, 2003. Most of the line was built on the former Santa Fe Pasadena subdivision right of way. In this program you will ride the entire Gold Line from Union Station, through Pasadena to the end at Sierra Madre Villa station, including rock steady end to end cab rides in both directions! The program also includes extensive line side coverage showing you the downtown elevated section, street running, and operations in the center of the I-210 freeway. An extended bonus section features the grand opening festivities at L. A. Union Station, souvenirs, press releases, and "goodies" given out by the MTA to the VIPs attending the ceremonies, a map of the line, and gallery of still pictures. Digitally mastered with Hi-Fi stereo audio and limited narration. Digitally mastered and packaged in a durable plastic library case with printed cover. Running time 1 hour 30 minutes.

Technically very good. Do think that the driver's view shots occupied too much of video, as there is a sameness about a lot of Light Rail Private -right-of-way..lots of concrete, lots of look-alike tracks. For me street views of the various cars, and indeed of suburbia from the car is a lot more interesting.

Additional remarks by ross johnson:
Narration: Just enough.
Would kids enjoy this? Maybe.
Image quality: Excellent!
DVD Value:: Fair.
Recommend to others? Not unless they REALLY were interested in the subject matter.

This DVD has it all. city officials making speeches, Opening Day festivities, plus ans incredible round trip on the Gold Line from one end of the line to the other. The camera work is outstanding and it makes you feel as though you were driving the train. There was hardly any narration or music to mar the trip and the fact that you get to see the newly refurbished for transit Santa Fe historic Pasadena sub is another plus. Any fan of traction in Los Angeles should have this for their collection.

Too many politicians' speeches to suit me. Otherwise a good and informative video (and I live in the LA area). In the video they spoke of extensions to this line and Valhalla being there when it happened. Well, the first major extension has been completed and is in service but no new video. Lookin' for it
