Into the Feather River BLURAY Union Pacifics Canyon Subdivision

Also available in DVD.

Travel to the legendary Feather River Canyon and see this historic line between Oroville and Portola, California. This BluRay will show you many highlights of the canyon including: the famous bridges at Pulga, Clio Trestle, Serpentine Canyon, Williams Loop (where trains loop over themselves), and the famous Keddie Wye. Catch the legendary "Broncos" escorting trains through the rain, when the risk of rock slides and washouts is high. You will see the Quincy Railroad in action and take a ride on their EMD SW7 switcher up and down the 4% grade which connects a local Sierra Pacific sawmill with the UP. At Portola, we spend some time at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum where the WP lives. You will even witness the UP 844 steam locomotive making a special appearance as the UP celebrates 100 years of railroading in the Feather River Canyon!

This program was shot in Hi-Definition Wide Screen and is also available on a high-quality glass mastered DVD bringing you many years of enjoyment.

Special Bluray features include a chapter menu and the ability to view the program with or without narration.

Just a super Movie. I have always thought as Pentrex as being the benchmark of the train world , well 7idea is equal to them on the ones I have seen.

Excellent photography, great effort to capture many angles. Thorough coverage of the trains and route. This is the best video about the Feather River route I have seen. While the route does not have heavy grades, they did a good job of capturing engine and train sound too. The narrator is excellent, but I would like to have the option of turning the narration off or on for subsequent viewings. As a Blu-Ray and HDTV owner, I would love to see 7idea embrace that technology. Given their quality of sound and image, a high-definition (and widescreen version as with Marias Pass video) would add to the impressive quality of their products.

Additional remarks by craigv:
Narration: A little bit too much.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: Good.
DVD Value: Excellent Value!
Recommend to others? Definitely.

Simply as good as it gets! This is a quality A+ production. The imagery is just spectacular. I'm really quite impressed with 7Idea titles. I think they've got the art of the railroad video nailed down. And for those that have a widescreen TV, it's even that much better to have the entire screen filled. If I was to nitpic, about the only thing I can find wrong is that the camera had quite a moderate bounce when trains went by. Not sure if this is the tripod, or spongy ground. I just don't recall ever seeing that much bounce in other DVD's. But it certainly doesn't detract from the show. If you're into the Feather River, you need to have this one in your collection.
