There is nothing quite like a journey across the land. Air travel is too fast, once on the plane, and little can be seen. Automobile travel is good, but mainly for the passengers as the driver has to contend with the road conditions and other drivers. Rail travel however gives us the best we can ask for. No driving, and the freedom of movement while traveling.
In this video, Doug Jones gives the viewer an interesting look at rail travel across the USA. New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles are a few of the cities visited. Be noted that while this is a train video, it is directed more at the tourist in us, not as much the rail fan. There are a number of stops along the way in cities the train passes through, and time spent showing some of the city highlights. The scenery along the way is well noted, as is the care given on board the train as the journey makes it way across the nation.
Doug Jones has given us a very interesting look at a fantastic experience that all people need to take once in a life time. It is truly a great video presentation from a slightly different prospective from other rail fan videos. Highly recommended. (on a sub note, if You enjoy this video, take a look at the sequel... The Great Canadian Train Ride, also by Doug Jones). |
