One word: Spectacular! This may just be the best train video I've seen by anyone anywhere. This one runs circles around Pentrex products.
The image quality is as good as can possibly be. Starting from Roseville all the way to Sparks in what looks like late summer to the middle of winter. The winter scenes especially will take your breath away.
By the way, this isn't your typical train video shot at grade crossings. This this is shot from places and angles I guarantee you've never seen before. A++. More like this please! mysp7377 (San Diego Ca) on 2012-03-17 02:45:59.

Fantastic must have DVD, 7 Idea does it again with another Great DVD. Filmed in what has become their standard for some of the best railroad photography I've seen. This DVD has everything from stack trains to manifest freights mid train helpers and Amtrak all filmed in spectacular scenery and locations. And just when you think it cant get any better it does with some fantastic and excellent winter and snow action. Here you'll see stack trains, freights and Amtrak fighting their way through blinding snow storms, plus Snow fighting equipment in action such as flangers and Jordan Spreaders. I don't know how they got into some of these places to shot "maybe a Helicopter" but they did and you'll enjoy every minute of this DVD. This is defiantly an A++++ DVD. mysp7377 Kym Manuel (Australia) on 2011-03-28 23:08:33.

This production not only does justice to the trains and scenery in Donner Pass, it also sets a new benchmark standard for train documentary industry. Eat your heart out Pentrex, you've been passed. TomJ (Kentucky) on 2010-12-18 06:39:30.

Wide screen really helps this DVD. Image quality is good and subject matter is at least moderately interesting. Tunnels were enlarged so that double stack trains could run the Donner Pass route instead of the Feather River Canyon route beginning in Nov. 2009. Some really nice scenery near the summit and wide screen enhances the view BIG TIME. Some EXCELLENT winter scenes showing spreaders and flangers clearing the tracks of snow. These scenes make the DVD worth the price of admission. Scott Clark (Eagan, MN) on 2011-04-27 17:56:16.

Short and to the point...amazing locations and crystal clear HD video (Blu-Ray Version), as well as great narration adds up to a "Must Have" for railroad fans! Matt (Pleasanton, CA) on 2011-01-03 06:59:21.

Image quality is excellent and sets the standard for how all future train videos should be done. The Dodger (Oxfordshire UK) on 2012-07-24 15:34:25.
This production is first class and a credit to the production team. 7idea have produced a Blu-ray DVD that has excellent high quality content as you climb and decent the mountain in various light conditions with the right level of narration. The viewer has the option of watching the DVD with the narration turned off. I hope the 7idea productions will extend there portfolio to produce "Cab Rides" - if they do so they would get my patronage. Dave Roxin (Balaton, MN) on 2012-01-31 14:04:12.
Love the part on snow removal and wish there was more on winter. Did not care as much for the summer part. Fred B. Guacci (Porcupine Ontario Canada) on 2011-06-17 09:31:35.
In my life time I will probably never see Donner live. Your video brought me there. Thanks EJ Videos (Feilding, New Zealand) on 2011-04-06 20:25:15.
The videography and overall composition of this program, simply speaking, is outstanding. big mike (daly city,Calif.(S.F.)) on 2011-02-15 22:27:22.
Not just double-stacks in this video, a good variety of trains on the hill. Good new location shooting and the clarity was excellent. run8anderson (Basking Ridge, NJ) on 2011-01-18 16:15:17.
