From high priority intermodal trains to unit trains of contaminated soil,
CSXT's Mohawk Subdivision see perhaps more of a variety of action
than any other line in North America!

During 2012 we were trackside countless times, and were recording the
best of what this line has to offer.

Unit trains of ethanol, oil, coal, produce, trash, alumina and more run on the Mohawk Sub and you'll
see them all, along with the regularly scheduled traffic.

The variety of trains is only out-matched by the variety of motive power, and you'll see just about
every model from CSXT's roster and a whole bunch of neat stuff from the other class one's and
the power leasing companies!

The old New York Central route in upstate New York has always been intriguing for frequent railroad action. This production did not disappoint in that regard but has a limited geographical range. The focus is on heavy duty railroad action along the Mohawk River beside what I realized later was a Mohawk River lock.

The old NYC signal bridges still in place do not have long to live but it was
great to see them in daily use. The original 4-track main is easy to picture though vegetation covers the 4th track. In a few places there is a 3-track arrangement.

This is a classic rail fan train watching Blu-Ray of fast paced, heavy action on a totally rebuilt and top-grade line. I was not disappointed in that regard.
It was quite interesting to see the seasons progress from spring through summer then into the gray of a fading fall and finally a hint of winter in late December.

I wish a bit more time might have spent covering the ambient setting such as river barge traffic though the noisy migrating geese were entertaining as well some explanations about the transition from the NYC through Penn Central and finally to CSX.

CSX takes fine care of this line as the track speeds will attest. Of special interest was the parade of brand-new tank cars with North Dakota crude oil bound for the East Coast.

Additional remarks by Bobby Elliott:
Narration: Could have used more.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: Excellent!
DVD Value: Excellent Value!
