CHAPTER 1: THE EMPIRE BUILDER
Welcome aboard Amtrak's Empire Builder, the legendary route between Chicago and Seattle. Originally completed in 1893 by Great Northern Railway founder James J. Hill, the track runs 2,200 miles across the vast prairies and magnificent mountains of America's Great Northwest. Produced by Emmy-winning producer and feature writer John Yeager, this extraordinary film features breathtaking views and spectacular aerial shots, plus great behind-the-scenes action shots of the train, engine room, cabins, and much more!
CHAPTER 2: THE CHAMA TURN
Step back in time over forty years to the closing days of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, the last vestige of steam-powered narrow gauge lines. This incredible film, a time capsule of working freight operations from long past, features the Rio Grande route between Antonito and Chama, including the famed narrow gauge line between Durango and Silverton. Shot in spectacular color by noted railroad photographer Emery Gulash.
